Don’t Sit With Your Legs Crossed – It’s A Killer!

Remember when in a sitting position, never cross one leg over the other. Under the knees run two of the largest arteries, carrying nourishing blood to the muscles below the knee and to the thousands of nerves in the legs and feet. When you cross your legs, you immediately cut down the blood flow to almost a trickle. Then, when the leg and the knee muscles are not nourished and don’t have good circulation, the body starts going stagnant in the extremities, this can lead to broken capillaries, varicose veins and other health problems. Look at the bare ankles and legs of people over 40 who made a habit of crossing their legs and see their problems. Also when the muscles and feet don’t get their full blood supply, the feet become weak and poor circulation and stagnation sets in.
Cold feet torment most leg-crossers.

  1. Thank you for sharing this. I have many issues with my legs and feet and when I was younger I crossed at the ankles all the time. I am only 65 and my toes drive me crazy with their numbing but also painful problems.

  2. Excellent advice Patricia -
I see this all the time when doing postural therapy. Many folks have no idea that their nutrition, body habits, and activities of daily life postures are related to pain and less than optimal health.
Thanks for sharing this with your readership! It will help many!
