At Linus Pauling Institute</strong></h2>
<p>Dr. John Westerdahl, Direc­tor of Bragg Health Sci­ence for Bragg Live Food Prod­ucts and Direc­tor of Bragg Health Insti­tu­te recently attended the Diet and Optimum Health 2013 Conference at Linus Pauling Institute on the campus of Oregon  State University. The conference emphasized dietary and lifestyle approaches to improving human health and preventing or treating, including dietary supplements, micronutrients, and antioxidants. The target audience included scientists and health professionals in biochemistry, nutrition, preventative medicine, public health, endocrinology, cardiology, oncology, and gerontology.</p>
<p>The mission of Linus Pauling Institute is:</p>
<ul>
<li>Determine the role of diet,      micronutrients (vitamins and essential minerals), and phytochemicals      (chemicals from plants) in extending healthy lifespan (healthspan) and      preventing or treating age-associated diseases, including cancer and      cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurodegenerative diseases</li>
<li>Examine the role of oxidative      stress and inflammation in human health and disease, and the protective      effects of dietary antioxidant and anti-inflammatory factors</li>

<p>Dr. John Westerdahl, Direc­tor of Bragg Health Sci­ence for Bragg Live Food Prod­ucts  and Direc­tor of Bragg Health Insti­tu­te, swam from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco.The swim is a grueling 1.5 miles of chilly ocean water with strong currents!Dr. John finished because he leads a Bragg Healthy Lifestyle!  His Inspiration to swim comes from his friendship with Jack LaLanne Who swam this swim during his lifetime and Dr. Paul C. Bragg who also was a roughwater swimmer. Dr. Westerdahl has also swam the Waikiki Rough Water Swim (2.4 miles) in Hawaii 14 times.</p>

<p>¼ cup green onions, chop</p>
<p>1 Tbsp Bragg Organic Olive Oil</p>
<p>½ cup parsley, chop</p>
<p>¼ tsp Bragg Liquid Aminos</p>
<p>½ tsp Bragg Sprinkle</p>
<p>Steam greens, parsley and onions for 3 minutes. Place greens and some liquid in oiled casserole, add Sprinkle, Liquid Aminos (optional: tofu) and bake at 325°F for 10 minutes. Serves 4.</p>

<p>1 Tbsp chives, chop</p>
<p>¼ tsp Bragg Liquid Aminos</p>
<p>2 cloves garlic, mince</p>
<p>1 tsp chervil</p>
<p>¼ tsp nutmeg</p>
<p>shake of Bragg Sprinkle</p>
<p>Steam the greens. Sauté garlic in olive oil, browning slightly. Place greens and liquid in saucepan, add Sprinkle, chervil and chives. Pour garlic and oil mixture over greens; stir in nutmeg and<br />Liquid Aminos. Serve greens and liquid in bowls. Serves 4.</p>
