WHEAT GERM – BRAN FRUIT BARS

¼ lb pitted dried prunes

¼ lb natural dates

¼ lb natural figs

¼ lb organic raisins

1 Tbsp organic orange rind, grate

¼ cup raw honey

3 Tbsps lemon juice

1 cup bran

½ cup raw wheat germ

Grind fruit in food chopper, using the coarse grinder. Mix it with the other ingredients you desire. Mold the mixture in a pan. Refrigerate 1 hour. Cut into small bars.

FRESH STRAWBERRY SPONGE

FRESH STRAWBERRY SPONGE

¼ cup hot distilled water

½ cup strawberries, juice and pulp

½ Tbsp arrowroot powder

¼ cup soy cream or non-dairy

whip cream for garnish

Egg Replacer equal to 1 egg

¼ cup raw honey

½ Tbsp fresh lemon juice

berries for garnish

Crush organic strawberries; add honey, allow to stand 30 minutes. Dissolve arrowroot in water, add to strawberries and lemon juice. Cool. When it starts to thicken, fold in whipped soy cream and Egg Replacer. Put in sherbet glasses. Chill. Garnish with berries, delicious non-dairy cream or non-dairy yogurt (rice, soy or nut creams) if desired. Serves 3.

ZESTY PROTEIN CONFECTION

½ cup raw carob powder

⅔ cup soy powder

2 Tbsps Bragg Olive Oil

¼ cup raw peanut butter

¼ cup rice bran

2 Tbsps nutritional yeast

2 Tbsps raw wheat germ

chopped nuts of choice

Place all ingredients in a bowl. Add enough raw honey to make consistency to knead. Spread into a square pan. Press chopped nuts over the top. Chill and cut into pieces.

GRAPEFRUIT, FRESH OR BROILED

GRAPEFRUIT, FRESH OR BROILED

Cut grapefruit in half. Remove fruit from skin, taking out in one whole section by cutting carefully around perimeter and bottom. Carefully section fruit. Serve fresh or put under broiler for a few seconds until heated. Delicious as is, or top with diced fresh fruit and soy yogurt.

Dr. Wareham continued actively assisting in surgery to the age of 95 when he retired.
