Bragg Nutritionist Receives National Recognition
& Appointment to Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics

Santa Barbara, CA , March 19, 2015

John Westerdahl, PhD, MPH, RD, FAND, Director of the Bragg Health Institute and Director of Health Science for Bragg Live Food Products, has been elected to be the next Chairman of the Vegetarian Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group (VNDPG) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. Dr. Westerdahl, who currently serves as Chair-Elect of the vegetarian nutrition group of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, will assume leadership as Chairman in June 2015. The VNDPG of the Academy is the leading authority on evidence-based vegetarian nutrition for food and nutritional professionals, medical and health care professionals and the general public. The mission and vision of the Academy’s VNDPG is to optimize global health and well-being by creating and disseminating vegetarian nutrition educational materials, support cutting edge research on plant-based and vegetarian diets and develop influential public policy.

In addition to Dr. Westerdahl’s elected position as head of the scientific vegetarian group, he received a special recognition as a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Academy recognizes its members as a Fellow when they have made significant contributions to the field of dietetics and have lived up to the Academy’s values of customer focus, integrity, innovation and social responsibility. This designation recognizes Dr. Westerdahl’s commitment to the field of dietetics and celebrates his professional accomplishments and pursuit of life-long learning in the science of nutrition.
