DANGEROUS COCKTAIL: ENERGY DRINKS and ALCOHOL

College-age drinkers who swill alcoholic energy-drink cocktails are three times more likely than alcohol-only drinkers to leave a bar drunk.

What’s more, those imbibing energy cocktails are four times more likely to attempt drunken driving, find University of Florida researchers Dennis Thombs, PhD, and colleagues.

Heavy Alcohol Use Linked to Cancer

Researchers say they’ve gained new insight into a link at the cellular level between alcohol consumption, aging and cancer.

The key appears to lie in telomeres, structures at the end of chromosomes that shorten as people get older. Telomeres are also thought to shorten because of excessive drinking.
